J-22 New Pilots?

Post by 2mp210 on Thu Apr 11, 2013 10:10 pm

First solo flights at the J-22 "Eagle" assault aircraft were performed by Major Aleksandar Gajic and Captain Igor Djordjevic, two of the group of five pilots who are being trained for this type of aircraft. They are the first pilots of the Serbian Armed Forces who flew alone in "Eagle" after more than a ten year break. Two of their colleagues, Captains, had their first flights yesterday, with their teachers, in a double-seater variant "Eagle NJ-22", which marked the beginning of the flying part of their retraining to assault aircraft pilots.

Help me understand, the last pilots qualified on J-22 was 10 years ago?

Haris is that you?

Basicaly theese are first new pilots on J22
Last combat training flights in two seaters was 10 years ago.
Since then only already qualified pilots flew on the type and no new pilots were recieved in unit.

This is consequence of many reasons. And some of them are, enough number of already trained pilots, unsuficient number of two seater NJ/INJ-22 Orao airplanes, and near end of service life which I think is one of most important reasons.
Whole fleet of J22 will be grounded in next few years,98thAB on airport Ladjevci(a.k.a. as Obrva by nato, and now Morava) unit which operate them should recieve new type, but that took to much time, and according to current financial situation that is not going to happen, and they had to make few new pilots to maintain combat readyness after some of active pilots go into retierment.

So this is only patch work to keep most effective unit in airforce running.

Just to mention that unit from Ladjevci AB flew 56 combat missions against albanian terrorists under constant threat of enemy fighters in 78day agression against Yugoslavia.
They lost squadron comander after bombing terrorist HQ
But that is one of better kept secrets, more about it another time

Also they performed most intresting simulated airport attack at 100years anniversary of Serbian AF last September

Yes, they have been used against UCK.
Those airplanes prooved as true workhorse and they are built for combat in asymetric warfare (political reasons, Yugoslavia was pivoting point between west and east and both blocks were considered as potential enemy, naturally war with any of them would leave runways distroyed and other sophisticated infrastructure needed for jet aircrafts. Only two fighter regiments had underground airports which could whitstand direct hit by nuclear weapon)
This is war photo on reserve position in Bosnia

Mpampi, there is no published story about those actions.
Only parts from some interviews which was told by the pilots, but nobody want to troughout speak about it.
They have their reasons, and some of them are that they had treir comander lost in action most probably because he did not wanted to eject and fall into terrorist arms alive(bear in mind that several hundred mujahedeens were on the ground)
And other is that many noted officers are charged by Hague tribunal, which is most obviously revenge court(1000years for Serbs vs around 50 for Croats,Muslims and Albanians combined)

We can discuss it on Skype or Whats app, and you make a picture and publish what you find as apropriate.

They used some other munition rather than Mavericks, as those missiles was kept for some more valuable targets
But they used aerosol bombs, bl755,mk82,number of ptab`s and fab`s

PS
Do you recognise background?
