16 January 2012 / TODAYSZAMAN.COM ,
Turkey’s General Staff has said a military training plane with two personnel are disappeared in Aliağa gulf near Aegean city of İzmir since 4 p.m. Monday and that units are searching for the personnel.
The Turkish Air Force says one of its small jets is missing in the Aegean Sea.
The air force says in a statement on its website that the T-37C light-attack aircraft, with two pilots aboard, went missing over the Bay of Aliağa on Monday during a training flight.
It says helicopters, planes and navy ships are searching for the plane.
Last year, two pilots were killed when a T-37C went down near the Aegean town of Urla.

Search continues to find missing pilots in the Aegean Sea
Search and rescue efforts continued today to find the crew of a T-37C type training plane that apparently went down into the Aegean Sea yesterday.
Control towers had lost contact with the training plane at around 4:00 p.m. while it was flying over the Aliağa gulf with two pilots on board.
One CN-235 airplane, one Cougar helicopter, three coast guards boats and a search and rescue ship from the Turkish navy are taking part in an operation to find the missing pilots.

As search and rescue efforts continue to try to locate an Air Force training aircraft that crashed into the Aegean Sea in the western province of İzmir on Jan. 16, the identities of the two missing pilots onboard have come to light.
Reports indicate that Pakistani Maj. Masood Hussain Chhachhar was onboard the plane to provide flight training to Turkish Lt. Serkan Sağır, 23, an officer from the eastern province of Erzincan who had recently graduated.
Chhachhar was training Sağır as part of a military exchange program between Turkey and Pakistan, according to reports.
Officials believe the T-37C training aircraft is located 130 meters below sea level, according to İzmir Gov. Cahit Kıraç.
The plane reportedly crashed two miles off the coast of Arslanburnu in İzmir’s Foça district, although search and rescue teams were yet to reach both the remnants of the aircraft and the two missing pilots.
Search and rescue efforts were set to continue throughout today, according to reports

Re: Turkish military jet missing
You're right.
Since T-37s go down so often lately around Izmir, the media groups use whatever they have recently available, without clarifying where it is from.
I just feel sorry for the poor relatives...
